No More First Names                                                                             -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A retired high school teacher, Pete lives in San Diego where he now occasionally performs on the stage when he's not busy traveling the globe. Pete and I bonded over a mutual love of "West Wing" several years ago. Pretty tame stuff by today's standards.

No More First Names

Naming things. A very important facet of humanity. Parents take months to pick just the right name for a child. Last names once conveyed one’s occupation and now ethnicity or place of origin.

Slave owners renamed Africans because they owned them.

From the beginning, President Trump played the slave owner card by using demeaning nicknames for his opponents, Lyin' Ted, Little Marco. Currently, he is direspecting officers of the Congress by disregarding their titles and referring to them by their first names, specifically Chuck and Nancy.

They should demand to be called by their elected titles: Senator Schumer and Speaker of the House, Speaker Pelosi. Does the Pres even know that Speaker Pelosi will become President when he and VP Pence are removed from office? By using their first names, he is asserting dominance. Please, all members of Congress, demand the respect you deserve as elected officials.

THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH is listed in Article I of the Constitution. Executive Branch is in Article II. (Sen. McConnell, please make note of that).

The ACA lost its edge when Republicans dismissed it as Obamacare. It's too bad 44 fell for it and accepted that sobriquet.

I'm glad Speaker Pelosi uninvited the President from speaking to a joint session in the House Chamber. The Pres can just submit Stephen Miller's speech for the record.

Okay, no more first names.

Discuss among yourselves.
