Thoughts On a Young Boy's Fate _______________________________________________________________

I've been haunted by this photo ever since I first saw it more than two years ago.  
Lest we forget ... some thoughts

​Courageous empathy
To see this child; to feel what he's feeling;
to experience the impulse to rescue.

Empathy
To see this child and imagine yourself in his place,
to experience his reality vicariously ...
​his history, his fears, and --now--beyond fear, his numbness.

Sympathy
To see this child and feel sorry for him.

Indifference
To  see this child and feel nothing.

Callous indifference
To  pass the photo without a second glance.

Brutality
To deliberately inflict the kind of harm the boy has suffered.

​Cowardly brutality
To sell weapons to those who will inflict this kind of harm
on other innocent children while you turn away.
